David began arranging his environment as a child. His favorite activity was constructing with Lincoln Logs, Legos, and wooden blocks. He has always been obsessed with Brutalist architecture and architects such as Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, and Frank Lloyd Wright. David grew up in Houston and San Antonio, then attended The University of Texas at Austin. When David moved to New York, his first styling job was as a "window dresser" for Barney's and Bergdorf Goodman. David's most prized possession is a Nan Goldin print, such an early print that it's signed "Nancy Goldin". His clients include Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine, and Knoll Furniture. He has also recently Art Directed for West Elm.

Collection: Political campaign buttons -- I still have them all.

Influential movies: Annie Hall and Manhattan made me want to live in New York City.

Hobby: Collecting vintage design books, vases made in occupied Japan, vintage vinyl record albums, mid-century dishes, and anonymous photography.

Motto: I think Tim Gunn's "make it work" is a good one.

On the nightstand: Mary Ann in Autumn by Armistead Maupin and The Basque History of the World by Mark Kurlansky
